A Small Backyard Wedding Rooted in Love 

Originally, this wedding was set to happen much later—but when Sierra’s grandfather received an Alzheimer’s diagnosis, the timeline shifted. Making sure he could be there to witness the day became the priority. So she called Malori, her wedding planner, and within days, they brought her wedding to life in Malori’s in-laws’ backyard. It was breezy, warm, and beautiful in that perfectly Michigan-in-May kind of way.

Her grandfather was a central part of the day—his presence felt in every moment. From the ceremony under the trees to a touching first dance, you could feel the emotion ripple through the crowd. It wasn’t just a wedding; it was a reminder of how powerful it is to show up for the people you love.

About thirty people gathered in the backyard, tucked beneath the trees, to watch Sierra and Andrew say their vows. The ceremony was sweet and simple—right next to the house, under a tree that felt like it had been waiting just for them. 

Later, Sierra shared a first dance with her grandpa that left pretty much everyone teary-eyed. 

The night ended by a cozy bonfire, karaoke mic in hand, singing like no one was listening (and definitely off-key). It was heartfelt, a little chaotic, and everything a small backyard wedding should be—intimate, present, and full of love.
